Welcome to Stronger Years!

At Reebok CrossFit Duna, we wholeheartedly believe that age is merely a number and that embarking on or sustaining your fitness journey is a timeless endeavor. Strength forms the bedrock of all achievements, and as we gracefully age, it becomes even more vital to fortify our well-being and embrace a vibrant life! This very philosophy has led us to introduce Stronger Years, a transformative program tailored to unleash your inner strength and ensure an elevated quality of life like never before.

What is Stronger Years

Stronger Years is a two-day-per-week strength and lifting program suitable for all ages, but particularly tailored to our 50+ generation. Over our decade of teaching CrossFit and Strength and Conditioning, we have witnessed firsthand the remarkable benefits of strength training and lifting for all our clients, with a special emphasis on our older participants. One of our core messages to clients is that age is merely a number, and it is never too late to begin. Whether you're 25 or 65, now is the perfect time to embark on a weightlifting journey with proper form and expert guidance. We assure you that after just a few classes, you will feel the resurgence of your strength.

Each class comprises an extensive warm-up session (20 minutes or more), a barbell lift (such as deadlifts, squats, presses, etc.), and various strength accessories (pull-ups, push-ups, kettlebell swings, dumbbell exercises, core work, and more). All aspects of the program are expertly guided by experienced and certified coaches with extensive coaching backgrounds.

Stronger Years classes will officially start on August 1st, 2023 at 6 pm and will be free of charge for the entire month of August 2023.

In the video below you will learn about Annie Holmes, a now 93-year old Crossfitter who joined a CrossFit box when she was 89 years old and has inspired us to launch our Stronger Years program.

Why Stronger Years

We could easily fill up a 90-minute TED talk discussing the myriad benefits of strength training, but here are a few key aspects that we believe are particularly important:

 Maintain Muscle Mass

By maintaining muscle mass, you will ultimately feel more secure and confident in your day-to-day activities. With an adequate amount of muscle, you will experience a heightened sense of strength and capability, enabling you to embrace life to the fullest.

Increase Bone Density

By subjecting your bones to stress through strength training, you can effectively increase bone density and mitigate the risk of developing osteoporosis.

Improved Cardiovascular health

Improving your cardiovascular health through strength training can have a multitude of benefits. Not only does it help in preventing heart diseases, but it also boosts your energy levels and enhances your overall capability.

manage weight

Strength training serves as a valuable tool in weight management and can aid in both weight loss and weight maintenance. Furthermore, engaging in strength training elevates your metabolism, resulting in an increased calorie-burning capacity. This means that even when at rest, your body becomes more efficient at burning calories, supporting your weight management goals.

 Enhance thinking

Recent research indicates that consistent engagement in both strength training and aerobic exercise may have a positive impact on cognitive abilities, specifically in terms of enhancing thinking and learning skills among older adults. These exercises contribute to improved brain health and neuroplasticity, potentially leading to enhanced cognitive function and mental acuity.

manage chronic conditions

Strength training has demonstrated the ability to alleviate the signs and symptoms associated with various chronic conditions. Conditions such as arthritis, back pain, obesity, heart disease, depression, and diabetes can all benefit from incorporating strength training into one's routine. Strength training serves as a versatile and effective strategy to improve overall health and well-being, even for those managing chronic conditions.

Frequently asked questions

What if I can't train twice a week?

That is not a problem at all. To accommodate such situations, we provide flexible membership options. We offer a Monthly - 5 Class Pass, which is billed every 30 days, as well as a 10 Occasion Pass, which remains valid for 90 days. We understand that life can get busy, and while we recommend lifting weights at least twice a week, even a single session can yield great results. Our goal is to ensure that you have the flexibility to maintain your fitness journey according to your schedule and preferences.

Can I pause my membership?

Certainly! We understand that there may be circumstances where you are unable to visit the gym for a period of 7 days or longer. In such cases, we allow you to pause your membership (excluding the Occasion Pass). However, it's important to note that we cannot apply pauses retroactively. To request a pause, please email us at info@reebokcrossfitduna.com prior to the intended period of absence. Our team will be happy to assist you in making the necessary arrangements.

What if I am injured right now? Can I still start?

Being injured can be incredibly frustrating, but it should not discourage you from starting or continuing your fitness journey. At our gym, our dedicated team of coaches understands the challenges that come with injuries, and we are here to support you throughout your recovery process.

Training after an injury offers numerous benefits, including:

  • Promoting Healing: Appropriate exercises and movements can stimulate blood flow, which aids in the healing process and promotes tissue repair.
  • Restoring Quality of Life: Engaging in targeted exercises can help regain lost strength, mobility, and functionality, allowing you to regain your everyday activities and improve your overall quality of life.
  • Easing Chronic Pain: By promoting healthy blood flow and strengthening the affected areas, training can help alleviate chronic pain associated with certain injuries.

If you would like more information on how we can assist you in training after an injury, please contact us. We are committed to helping you recover, regain strength, and achieve your fitness goals, regardless of any setbacks you may have faced.

Is there parking in front of the gym?

Yes, there are ample free parking spaces available in front of our gym, and even more on the island. When you arrive, simply inform the guards that you are here to visit the gym, and they will assist you accordingly.

Are these group classes or individual?

Yes, our classes are conducted in a group setting, and the primary language used during the classes is English. However, we have a diverse membership base, and some of our members, as well as a few of our coaches, are fluent in other languages such as Hungarian, German, Danish, Slovenian, and Maltese. If you would feel more comfortable with private classes conducted in a specific language, please reach out to us via email or phone so that we can discuss your needs and find the best way to assist you. Your satisfaction and comfort are important to us, and we are committed to providing personalized solutions to meet your requirements.

How many people are normally in class?

Our class attendance limit is set at 12 participants. This intentional limitation allows us to ensure that every individual in the class receives sufficient attention and personalized guidance. It enables us to tailor the workout to meet the specific needs of each participant, ensuring a high-quality experience. By maintaining a smaller class size, we prioritize individual attention and strive to provide a supportive and tailored environment for your fitness journey.
